The Bll 2009 master plan includes a major new yacht haven and marina which will create thousands of jobs and generate billions for the economy. The proposals bring an important WOW factor to the event and helps to ensure media coverage.
| coastal regeneration Bll proposals will develop the Thames Gateway as a centre for yachting on the East Coast to become the first port of call for visiting yachts from Scandinavia and the Baltic. The marinas are ideally positioned to serve as a gateway into the Thames and the English Channel. Its situation will help to revitalise the local economies along the Kent and Essex coasts particularly around under utilised harbours.
outer harbour for 50 super yachts The outer basin will be designed to accommodate 50 super yachts with extensive quayside frontage. Its shore-side facilities will support big boat activities and the businesses that thrive on them. A heliport will be located on Montgomery Island on the Kent side of the estuary for a quick connection to the London heliport at Battersea.
1000 berth yacht haven A yacht haven on the Shoebury Island will have berths for 1000 yachts in a marina complex. The BIM will be created as a context model prior to the competition by BIM Products Ltd.
news worthiness The marina brings an exiting component into the mix and the ensuing debate will keep Bll in the media. The PR team will emphasise the economic benefits; explaining how the proposals will stimulate economic regeneration along the Kent and Essex coasts in the marine and tourism sectors.
