global collaboration

Bll will be an engineering collaboration across six continents; the different working practices & approaches of the various participants in different countries will provide illuminating comparisons after the event. Teams will be formed in as many countries as possible; in most cases made up of a number of firms.

multiple disciplines

Bll 2009 is not just about design - its intended to show the engineering behind the visualisation. Although striking architecture is desirable, the event is about collaboration between architects, structural engineers, building services engineers, planners, cost consultants etc. The objective is to create a truly complete Building Information Model and show the process of how it was created. All information produced during the event (good & bad) will be submitted.

multiple languages - diverse cultures

The working language for the event will be English, although we expect to hear and see many languages from around the world.

from industry & education

Bll will have participants from industry, in education, and the public. Educational teams are invited at all levels; from secondary through to architectural and engineering students.
